Submental liposuction, or lipectomy, is a technique where fat tissue is removed from specific areas below the jaw-line and neck to help sculpt or define the look and shape of the face and neck. This procedure helps to define the jaw-line and the neck-chin angle. Liposuction in this area can be done on its own, or in conjunction with other procedures.
Usually when doing submental liposuction Dr. Stastny also performs a procedure called a “platysmaplasty.” A platysmaplasty is a procedure to tighten the thin fan-shaped muscle that causes the “bands” that people commonly notice under their chin as they age. The platysmaplasty not only removes these “bands,” but it also helps to further define the jaw-line.
Schedule an appointment with Dr. Stastny to discuss which procedure may benefit you.
